At the beginning of the pandemic a feeling of isolation set in. I lived alone, hours away from my family. Work was closed, so I had no interaction with any other person, except though social media and speaking to my family and friends over the phone.
I decided to give running a try just to get out of the house, but that didn’t last long. I had a scary run-in with a person who chased me down the street to ask for my phone number in broad daylight. That shook me up a bit, so I decided to give running a rest shortly after I had picked it back up again.
Fast forward a couple of months when things started to gradually open back up. I posted on my Instagram story that I wanted to go hiking, and was looking for people to join. One of my friends volunteered, and we planned out first hike. We ended up at Umstead State Park. Now, there was nothing really spectacular about this trail. It wasn’t mountainous, there weren’t any breathtaking views. But, after hiking about 10 miles that day, I knew I definitely wanted to hike again.
So we started planning out next trip, which required a little more travel. This time we ended up at Pisgah National Forest. This hike was a lot more challenging. It was steep, with ever-changing terrain and it ended up raining shortly after we got on the trail. Nevertheless I enjoyed it, and we’ve been hiking together ever since.
Although hiking is pretty much all I’ve mentioned here so far, I love all things adventure. I have many different hobbies including, but not limited to, skating, rock climbing, and obstacle races. I hope you join me on my quest for adventure, and I encourage you to go out and explore as well.
Adventure Awaits!
